Statement of Financial Transactions (SFT)


Income year ended 30 June 2024

  1. Subject to section 123D(1) of the Income Tax Act, every bank or non-bank deposit taking institution under the Banking Act shall furnish to the Director General, on or before 16 August in every year, a statement of financial transactions effected by –

    1. an individual, a société or a succession that made a deposit exceeding 250,000 rupees or deposits exceeding 2 million rupees in the aggregate in the preceding year; or

    2. a person, other than an individual, a société or succession, who made a deposit exceeding 500,000 rupees or deposits exceeding 4 million rupees in the aggregate in the preceding year.

  2. A Statement of financial transactions shall, in respect of an account holder, be submitted electronically to the Director-General in such form and manner as he may determine, giving the following information –

    1. his full name;

    2. his NIC number or, in the case of a non-citizen, the identification number issued to him by the immigration officer, or passport number or Business Registration Number, as the case may be;

    3. bank account number and the total deposit made in each account held by him; and

    4. the balance as at 30 June in the preceding year.

  3. Paragraph (a) shall not apply to –

    1. an individual who is a non-resident;

    2. an entity that holds a Global Business Licence issued by the Financial Services Commission; and

    3. public listed company, its subsidiaries and associates.

The deadline for the submission of the SFT is 16 August 2024.

  • Before you start, ensure that you have your User ID *(TAN), password and the details of financial transactions or CSV file, as applicable, ready as per MRA's specifications.

  • Taxpayers are recommended to use a recent version of Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox as browser to file their return.

  • Please ensure that you provide your email address and telephone number as they will be used by MRA to communicate with you.

  • On successful submission of the SFT, an acknowledgement ID will be displayed on your screen, followed by an email confirming same. If you have not received an acknowledgement ID,the submission is incomplete. Please take necessary actions to correctly submit your SFT.

  • Only one SFT can be submitted for any particular income year. However, in case you wish to make amendments to a SFT that has already been submitted, please contact the Tax Risk Management Unit at MRA on 207 6000 or send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Declaration of Company not in operation (IT Form 3E)


Companies which have either not started operation or have ceased business and have not derived any income during an income year should submit a declaration for not in operation within 3 months from the end of the accounting year.

Where a company submits a declaration for an income year, it shall not be required to submit an annual Corporate Tax return (IT Form 3) in respect of that year only. It is to be noted that if the company is still inoperative for the following subsequent years, such a declaration should be submitted for each and every income year the company does not start operation or has ceased business.

In case the company has not submitted the declaration within three months from the end of the month in which the company's accounting year ends, it will be required to submit an annual return of income (IT Form 3) within six months from the end of the month in which its accounting period ends.

The declaration by company not in operation is not applicable to a company holding a Global Business Licence under the Financial Services Act and a trust.

Year of Assessment 2024 - 2025

Year of Assessment 2024 - 2025 relates to accounting year ending on any date falling on or between 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2024.

  • Kindly note that it is the taxpayer’s responsibility to file a correct and complete declaration.

  • Ensure that you provide your email address and telephone number as they will be used by MRA to communicate with you.

Important notes for e-Filing

  1. Enter the TAN of the company to access your online form. The company's TAN will automatically appear on the web page.

  2. Ensure that you have all the required information before you start filing.

  3. No document need to be submitted if you file electronically but all required information must be inserted.

  4. While filling the declaration, please insert a valid e-mail address in order to obtain an acknowledgment confirming that your declaration has been received by MRA for further processing.

  5. Please note that the responsibility to make a correct and complete declaration remains on the taxpayer according to law.

  6. If you wish to print a copy of your form, please do so before you submit the declaration online
